You can spit satellite signals with what is called a "multiswitch"; you do not need another LNB or dish. You cannot use an ordinary splitter (such as for cable or antenna signal). The switch is used between the dish and the receivers, so you will need a new receiver for each additional TV. If you add a receiver to DirecTV, you will have to call to activate it and they will charge you a mirror fee of about $5.00 a month. Adding a receiver is the only way to get multiple TVs if you want to watch different things on the different TVs at the same time.

If you have a single LNB (as in an LNB with only ONE feed coming out of it) then yes you do have to get another LNB. You'll need to have a dual LNB (as in an LNB with TWO feeds coming out of it). To get more than two feeds, you use a multiswitch. A simple splitter will not work. At the very least, only half of your channels would work. More than likely you'd ruin one or both of the power supplies in your receivers. Don't try it! The receivers send voltage to not only power the LNB but to select the polarization according to what channel your watching.
