The song by John Mayer has a lovely line in it. When you own the media you can spin it however you like. SO the media is without a doubt spun to make things sound the way politicians want American's to see things. Watch the BBC sometime and see the difference in the way world news is reported. The same story is reported two different ways and in America it makes America look better than maybe the reality.

We even teach our children and American friendly spin of history.

Oh please! Corporate ownership of media outlets has nothing to do with media bias. The MSM is biased to the left because the reporters and editors are liberals. They are trained in liberal thought at journalism school, or if they come into media from a different route, then they learn they have to adapt to the office environment if they want to have successful careers.

As for the BBC, it is as biased -- if not more -- than American network TV news.

Now, as to the question. In such a short amount of time, you're not going to be able to make any sophisticated arguements. One suggestion is to make it about the new interest in bringing back the FCC's Fairness Doctrine (which, in my opinion, was hardly fair). It's repeal was what allowed for the emergence of conservative talk radio and Fox News.
