I think they would like Myrtle Beach, SC and I go every year and see just as many seniors on vacation as I do. I think that the north part of Myrtle Beach (proper) as well as North Myrtle Beach are quieter as far as lodging. I just went there with my mom in September. It was very nice. There are alot (I mean ALOT) of AUCE (all you can eat) places but there are regular restaurants too. There's golfing, putt putt or the real kind. There's an aquarium & this country music show on the MB side of town. Not to mention outlet shopping. I think I actually preferred North MB but try that website and plan activites according to what you'd think they'd like. Even if they just want to check out the beach, that's cool too.
