we have a mexican girl 23 years old that has been working for us for the past year. she speaks no english at all. she works 11 hours a day and is the only mexican there along with my mom and cousin. i try to converse with her to keep her from being bored but conversation is somewhat difficult. i know some spanish because i took 3 years in high school. we had some decent conversations before and i try to talk to her everyday. she only speaks when i talk to her and never talks to me. if i dont speak to her the whole day she will not talk to me. she is not a shy person. when i stand next to her it feels awkard like she is uncomfortable when im close. should i just stop trying to speak to her.

No, I don't think you should stop unless you really think it makes her uncomfortable (could be a mis-perception). She may no want to appear chatty, as if you might get the idea she isn't concentrating on her job. Can't judge that, but..

... if it makes you feel awkward to have the lack of input/feedback, don't push it, but golly gee - she should be learning from you (and you from her?); you can ask if she'd like help with her language skills?

Just don't feel uncomfortable.

(Maybe she has a crush on you!)
