I'm sure we've all seen an anime where a character gets a nosebleed from being aroused. . .can it happen in real life?

no, it's some stupid theory that women made up in japan. It's rather a symbolism than a true factor. Obliviously, it symbolizes the concept of being sexually aroused from someone else.

usually, it is the males who often would get nosebleeds from being aroused, but recent animes are trying to make it not generalized with gender stereotypes, so they're making that females can also get nosebleeds as well, rarely it happens though.

No. The whole nosebleeds cliche came about from two basic theories: one is that it's supposed to symbolize an ejaculation (!) and the other is the nosebleed is due to the blood pressure a male virgin experiences when seeing a pretty girl, sexy woman, or otherwise attractive female in a seductive pose, revealing clothing, etc.

Well, I would say no. People do blush though, just not to the extent of nosebleeds. Anime likes to exaggerate (like with the gigantic eyes).
