If so, how did you do it? what was the first step in your recovery? How long did it take you?

I am reading books on it at the moment.

Read "Co-Dependent No More" by Melody Beattie. That one is wonderful. Yes, you can definitely recover. Alanon or Naranon are extremely good resources, if they relate to your situation. Support groups online can be lifesavers too, you can check out Yahoo Groups for them. Keep reading, practicing detachment and living your life for yourself. It can take a long time, but is worth every minute. Good luck!
