whats the best way to keep your eyeshadow on through out the day?

my eyeshadow comes off 2 hours after i put it on. is there anything that would help except keep reapplying it?

Eyeshadow that disappears into creases, especially as we age, is not the result we hope for. Short of reapplying it every couple of hours, what can you do? Nothing works better than a primer, applied first to naked lids, to stop shadow from creasing. Try Origins' Underwear for Lids Smoothing Primer, $25.

You can also apply foundation across the eyelids to create a smooth canvas. Make-up artist Liz Jones recommends applying concealer all over the eyelid, then powdering down with a veil of loose powder. Jones suggests a dusting of a subtle shimmering powder such as Bloom's Aloha Loose Powder, $35. One caveat: shimmer can make crow's feet look deeper, so avoid covering any lines around the eyes.

Using an eyeshadow powder applied with a brush is another way to make sure colour stays put. To get more pigment onto the eyes press the powder onto lids instead of sweeping it back and forth.

Chantecaille's Lasting Eye Shade, $48, has one of the finest textures on the market and can be applied wet, or dry. Yves Saint Laurent's Long Lasting Eye Shadow Ombre Solo, $44, in matt, shiny or metallic formulas, contains microfibres that help it adhere to the skin surface and diffuse light. Your own shadow may last longer if you powder it lightly and apply another layer.
