Perhaps they are a better negotiator? Possibly they had a job previously where they made more money and walmart had to meet or beat that salary to get them? Maybe that person has a different type of background that fits a different position that they are grooming them for. The other possibility is that they dealt with a different HR contact than you did who handled salary offers differently.
Regardless, you DON'T want to let management know that you are discussing salary with any other employee. But, when the time comes for a review and raise, you may want to ask if there are possibilities for you to increase your knowledge and advance within the company.

Welcome the world of the corporate job. Its a pyramid structure in which you are paid just enough to keep you there, not because its fair. That is why I will never, ever work for someone else again. I watched my dad go through that and the more he made the bigger the chunk Uncle Sam took out of his check.

Either start looking for a better job by giving them your notice and asking for references or quietly talk to your boss to ask for a raise.
