Thank you for bringing it up. I don't remember too many home grown players from the Red Sox in 2004. Maybe the Red Sox fans will use their heads for once and shut up about it. They are as guilty as we are.

Yes, I noticed that too, and the comments from Red Sox fans have increased now that they realize their payroll is going up, while the Yankees is going down, and will continue to go down.
I have said this before, Red Sox fans are an angry bunch, filled with hate and raised to hate the Yankees, it's just pathetic. I also think many of them have something missing in their lives, which is why they sit at their computers and vote hundreds of times for mediocre players like Mark Loretta and washed up Jason Varitek for the all-star team.
Red Sox fans' arguments also make little sense and leave out major points. On a Yahoo board, one Red Sox fan was talking about how the Red Sox are "going to do something foreign to the Yankees, bring up a young player this season, Dustin Pedroia". He also said that no one on the Yankees infield makes less than $18 million. First of all he was forgetting about Robinson Cano, who hit .342 last year. Second, he also forgot about Wang and Cabrera, and the fact that the only home grown players the Red Sox have had recently have been the very limited Trot Nixon (can't hit lefties to save his life) and the very average Kevin Youkilis (wow great OBP! No power or speed!). If they are going to argue, then at least make some sense. I will laugh as the contracts of Mussina, Abreu, Giambi, and Posada wind down and the Red Sox are number one in payroll. What will their excuse be then?
Also for the "genius" who said the Yankees traded away their top prospect, I suggest you get YOUR facts straight. The Yankees traded a 27 year old reliever, Matt Smith, and their #1 draft choice from '05, C.J. Henry who was clearly a disappointment. The Yankees made out like bandits and Henry may never make it. The Yankees top prospect is Phil Hughes, and second is Jose Tabata who is 18 and will be ready in two years or less. Talk about trading away great prospects, how about that Hanley Ramirez!! That Annibal Sanchez looks pretty good too! Damn, I bet you wish the Red Sox had them back!! Gotcha!!!

Sox 07 are you seriously trying to compare the sox farm system to the yankees farm system this yr. The yanks are a top 3 farm system this yr light yrs ahead of boston, they have 3 of the top 50 prospects rated by baseball america and 4 of the top 100. believe me you don't want to even try to argue this point. Igawa Hughes, Sanchez & Tabatta.
Mike Hunt- get realmost of the players you named were pre-freeagency when they were drafted of those you mentioned schilling started his MLB career in baltimore not boston. Varitek is the only one you held and he is a slight better than avg catcher. you unloaded Nomar, Clemens, Boggs, Eckersly etc.Rice was the only player of top caliber to complete his yra in Beantown during F/A. By comparison since 1976 when F/A started Thurmond Munson, Ron Guidry, Don Mattingly, Sparkey Lyle, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and thats not counting guys like wang and Cano

Ok first of all we made Ortiz. We traded for Schilling we signed Ramirez. And notice all this is from years ago have we gotten rid of them? No. Will we get rid of them? No. We build up over the years. Why would a team get every single player it has ever had and not trade away or sign. We got rid of Nomar because he wasn't what he use to be. And this will be Jason Varitek's tenth season this year with the Sox. Also, players come to Francona saying I want to play for you and the Boston Red Sox system. The Yankees trade away all there farm players to win for today. Just like when you got Bobby Abreu, you taded away your top prospect. The Sox are the ones set for the future. We have so many, wait in a couple of years you will be hearing the name Jacoby Ellsby.
Next time you start ripping on the Sox why don't you get your facts straight.

this guy must be a joliet(ill)catholic high fan.schilling started in boston, wade boggs, boston, roger clemmons, boston, dennis eckersley, freddie lynn, jim rice, dwight evans, ted williams, nomar, varitek, the list goes on.its ridiculous to blame the city or the fans because the players union, owners and players decide.the yankees roster is a whos who from everywhere.if every team had the disposable income like steinbrenner or a salary cap was in place it would be a different story.you hear all the time about teams not being able to compete against the big market teams and it comes down to money.i could do cashmans job if i had that checkbook.and wasnt it steinbrenner who asked cashman why they dont have big pappi.dont gimme any more bs about the yankees developing guys in their farm system.

ok well Nomar wasnt worth it anymore, with all the injuries and contiversy. Ortiz was a steal, anyone could have picked him up. doesnt matter that we picked up all the players and trying to win a world series....isnt that the goal of every team...including your yankees.......and to let you know the only contract the yankees offered Williams this offseason was a minor league one worth not even a million.....email me if you want to continue this at edgar3david34@yahoo.com

Of course they do. It doesn't matter if it's a FA, or a trade, it's not ur player. I don't think any of their lineup is homegrown, except Youklis, who sucks anyway. U guys didn't make Ortiz, u gave him something called HGH. He wuz horrible on the Twins. All of a sudden he's good, somthining's up.
Anyway, It's good 2 hear some1 agree with me. Most teams aren't homegrown, but yet if the Yankees aren't, it's a big deal. What's with that ****.
