I drove myself with my youngest, my husband was in Iraq and my mom had to stay at home with my older two kids because it was about midnight when I went in. It wasn't that hard, I just pulled over if I felt a contraction coming. I lived about 5-7 minutes away. If you really don't feel comfortable or the pains are too strong for you to drive, call 911. Tell them you are in labor and have no one to drive you. They will be happy to come and get you. Don't worry, that is what they are there for. Also try a cab, but sometimes the wait is really long. Good luck.

Of course it would be best to have a friend, neighbor, family member, taxi, ambulance...whatever...drive you, but if you go ahead and get on to the hospital before your contractions are too close together or too strong, it really shouldn't be a problem. My aunt drove herself to the hospital when she had both her babies, and the first time they wouldn't believe she was in labor because she was so calm! But then they checked her and she was already 8 cm, just had a high pain tolerance to the contractions! So basically if you can POSSIBLY find another ride it would be best, but if you absolutely cannot, go ahead and call your doc and see if it's okay for you to come in a bit early, while your contractions are about 10 minutes apart.

I have. My hospital was 25 minutes away. You should be fine. If you are worried you can call an ambulance. I drove myself because the ambulance would have taken more time to get to my house than for me to drive. Just stay calm and breath. The more nervouse you get the more your contactions will come. Think of the road and you won't even know it has been ten minutes. And remember labor can take hours or days. You just have to stay calm. Which I know is easier said than done. I am on my fifth pregnacy. Once you get to the hospital it usually slows down because you are more relaxed.

Aw, dont worry! When you go in to labour, call the hospital team and explain you have noone to take you in to hospital. You have genuine reason and good reason to be collected by an ambulance. You dont need the stress of that situation. Talk to your midwife about your concerns. Remember, there must be women out there in the same situation. I am also at the end of my pregnancy, having a relationship breakdown and worried about getting to hospital, or what happens if it was quick like my first labour? :( Before i go anywhere i have to make sure my daughter is looked after by family living 15 mins away. Gosh, as if us ladies dont have enough worries. If in any doubt call the hospital. Good luck x

Labor isn't like TV where the woman starts having contractions and everyone's running around for hot water because that baby will be here *right now.*

Once your contractions start, drive yourself there...if it's only ten minutes it should be no problem. Labor lasts several hours, so you have plenty of time.

If you're worried about your water breaking put some plastic on your driver's seat.

If you can't drive yourself there you can call a cab or even an ambulance.

Call a taxi or an ambulance, you really shouldn't drive yourself.Surely a neighbour would run you to the hospital,it's only 20 minute's off their time.If i was there i would take you and stay with you if you didn't have a support.
God's speed and good luck

come on girl, ring an ambulance thats what they are there for. your hospital may only be 10 min away but what if u get stuck in traffic, then again the time u find parking. you will be in a panic espically on your own. ring an ambulance and save all your energy for the labour ward. i think anybody that has a heart would drive you there, (wheather you know them or not) good luck. x

In an emergency call a friend, a church, 911, knock on a neighbors door. Now is the time to figure this out. Don't wait until you go into labor.

You can drive yourself i your water breaks or is leaking. That's not a big deal. The problem is if you are contracting every 2-3 minutes, you won't be able to. If all else fails, call an ambulance or a taxi. You don't have anyone to take you at all??

call a taxi or call an ambulance - ambulance is always the best because if there is complications they are trained to help until u reach the hospital or see if u can have a family member or friend stay with you for the last 2 weeks or ur pregnancy
