evidently they are emotional...
i have a teenage daughter... who is no longer a goth... shes a guitarist... (al least the goth was quieter)

emos are unhappy people who believe they are the victim in every situation of their life. They never seem to find justice in anything that happens to them. They use the term "not fair," more often than any sane human being should. The "emo" kids I went to school with, usually, would literally sit only in corners, and cross their arms in a defensive manor at all times. The most important thing they usually want others to know about them, is that they "don't care." They usually have some obscure blind hatred towards concepts they can't grasp, such as why they have to go to school, and why their parents can tell them what to do. They blare their music in an attempt to make you believe that they care even less, every time they do it. They throw the word "hate" around as though it was some casual hair style everyone is talking about. They fall in love with girls rather quickly, which is usually border line obsession/stalkerish. They write these "deep" poems about how depressed, and unhappy they are, sometimes the theme is how unfair life is or how much they don't care. The outcome of the poem is usually some sort of "poetic justice," or the world getting what it deserves by them committing suicide. They think Anarchy is cool because they saw the symbol written on an overpass somewhere, but really have no idea what it is, or why people are anarchists. It just has to do with people hating the government so it must be cool, because they get to hate some more things, and ***** about them,

Emo is short for emotional and is very sensitive and stuff. Many emos become depressed and wear black and dark colors to reflect how they feel. THey also write dark poetry and songs for the same reason. They do not all cut themselves though, and not all are depressed, this is just a popular steryotype people believe is true.

emo people are a bunch of anti social people and act depress because they think it's some how cool i guess. They are not very friendly to people unless its only other emo people. they act like they have the worst problems in the world also when other people are being killed, raped, beaten jailed, suffereing from diseases and being put into slave labor or being over worked. Also emos tend to be unsuccessful people because they are too negaitive to others and themselves. they also tend to isolate themselves which means they are the root of there own problem. not the world. because we all know that emo people dont live in 3rd countries poor countries. yet they act as if they live in one

I think its a way of look
punk music 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.
Usually black hair cut at an angle...I think skaters mostly

They are baby Goth's
The drink blackcurrant juice instead of anything that looks like blood which is what Goth's drink.
They listen to depressing music and feel sorry for themselves.

Emo has been attached to every type of music genre. What it comes down to is take anything good and attach a bunch of whiney young people crying about anything.
It's a horrible waste of musical talent
