The best response to this question is really very simple. As an obvious conservative you need to actually look in the mirror and wave your finger at all of your types, and then ask the question "Why do republicans try to get the country to go to war by scaring people with wmd lies?" In fact we can look deeper in to the subject of fear campaigns, how about the 2004 Bush campaign. There was an ad for the Bush campaign that played similar to a horror movie. Well, first of all the "first terrorist attack on America" was left deliberately vague, one would assume they are reffering to 9/11. But the only thing the ad could possibly have been reffering to was th 1993 world trade center bombing. In 1994 John kerry had introduced a deficit reduction package that included a one time $1 billion cut in intelligence spending to be followed by a four year inflation adjusted freeze. In those days everyone who was anyone on capitol hill was cutting intelligence spending. For example, the next year, Florida Republican congressman Porter Goss cosponsored a bill cutting intelligence personell by 20 percent over 5 years. But did Bush run negative ads against Porter Goss? No. He put him in charge of the CIA.

We dump tens of billions ( with a "B" ) of tons of crap into the atmosphere of this planet every year, year after year after year, and have been for the better part of a century, ( and it's getting worse not better ),only some brain dead, deluded, can't see the forest for the trees, myopic, politics first intelligence second, either Dem or Repub, because dare I say it this is everybody's problem individual possibly say it's not having an effect. But I guess that's the definition of deluded. Not only are we dumping all that into the air we are also cutting down at an unbelievable rate precisely the things that can help clean the air a.k.a. trees. Gore is retired from politics, so he's not trying to get votes. None of the current Democratic presidential candidates seem to be talking a lot about the topic.

The Republicans seem to be the only ones collectively making the Global Warming debate a political issue.
