Baby Doll,

I have visited the Gettysburg battlefield several times. There are a number of memorials on the field dedicated to regiments, generals, and one for peace. It is the largest battle ever fought in North America.

I do not know what kind of memorial one person could do in relation to the battle. You could read Lincoln's Gettyburg Address, and submit a modern version to a newspaper. You might contrast the fact that the Union was fighting to preserve itself, freedom, and end the terrible institution of slavery. You could contrast this battle, which at least had nobility in purpose and was in self defense against a Confederate attack with Bush's illogical pre-emptive attack against Iraq.

Why Gettysburg when there were so many battles and many much worse? You could thank-you your fore-fathers for their sacrifice, along with their bravery and honor. If you're a Southerner the war affected 1 out of every three and if you're a yankee it was 1 out've every 5. God Bless You and Our Southern People.
