im in a hip-hop dance class with a few girls from my school and they are thinking about performing it for the talent show. it would be cool because we all have the same costume and hip hop is considered really cool at my school.
problem is, ive been working on a lyrical/modern dance for six months and its the first piece ive chereographed myself. i actually think its realy good, and i was already planning on performing it in the talent show before my friends asked me.
what should i do, the "cool" hip hop dance or the creative and expressive lyrical/modern that I MADE?

That's a hard question. Will you be letting your friends down if you don't do the dance with them--like will it leave a visual hole in the choreography or something. Will they be very disappointed? If they are true friends they will want to see you shine on your own. Do what you think will make you feel good AFTER deciding whether or not you can live with yourself afterwards.

If you have not already told these girls you would do it, let them know that you think it is a great idea but you already have something planned- show your support to them and be positive about it. Let them know that you look forward to performing with them at some point but you have worked hard on what you have planned.- in this case I think you should go for solo!
If you have already told them or made them think in any way you would participate with them, it would be rude to back out now.

Honestly I would Say Go with the group cuz school now a dayz is harsh as hell and all the be your self stuff is good but it aint worth it i mean if ur sure fire that u aint gona get made fun then go for it but its funner practicing with friends and if u mess up ppl wont notice all too much and hey sorry to be so blunt wit it but im juss tellin u cuz im hella rude and i make fun of people ALOT!!!

Your friends might get mad if you ditch them and go for a solo thing, since they will all be in a group together. But if you've been working on it for 6 months and it's really important to you, you should use that. Be sure your friends are ok with it though.

Explain to the group how hard you worked on your performance and they should understand why you want to go solo. Good Luck and have fun.

i think hip hop dancing looks cooler with a group. and if you dont win or mess up, the focus isnt just on u

Can't you do both? If not then I would go solo. If you screw up you have no one to blame but yourself. If they screw up it will still make you look bad and you didn't cause it.

but, if its not weird, just go wit ur dance

I think you should do it by yourself if you are planning on being a dancer in the future.
