On my baseball team I am a younger kid, and the coach asked me where I play, so I told him 1st base. When he gave us positions, he put me in right field which is a problem because i am slow and it is hurting the team.

The main thing you'll have to do to impress your coach is to be able to handle hard throws and short-hops.
Get a friend who can throw pretty hard and have him throw you about 100 short-hops a day until you can catch them in your sleep.
You'll also need to stretch out a lot, almost to the point of doing the splits. That's what a 1st baseman needs to be able to do.
Otherwise, you'll need to do alot of speed training and strengthen your throwing arm.
Try sprinting up hills a few times a week. Do leg presses and leg curls in the weight room. That will increase your speed.
Also, doing tricep extensions using free weights with your throwing arm and that will help you throw harder.
Good luck.

just keep on trying last year when i was 14 playing against 18 year olds i caught almost the whole year but then my legs got really tired and my back started hurting so they moved me to the out field and i know how you feel it sucks being out there when your not use to it but all you can do is keep trying and hustling and eventually he'll put you at first remember us rookies have to pay our dues but keep trying

and when there is a ball hit that could go in the gap dont try and take a direct route to it just focus on cutting the ball of before it goes int the gap with out over running it, and hit the cut off man

but keep on trying you'll get it

Work at it. In time you might mature to become the fastest kid on the team. You might go to like Right Field you never know.

To win any position in baseball, you have to be better than the guys who are also going for it.
Train like you want it.

if you're starting in RF...good! Learn to pitch...if you can throw strikes, the coach will notice...to start, ask to throw during batting practice...and don't hit any of your teammates!!!
