I'm twelve in sixth grade and I have headaches, chest pains, side pains, back pains, cramps, and all the other symptoms of a period. I haven't had menarche yet, but I don't know when it will come. My mom had her period when she was twelve or eleven so that's when I should get mine. It's not like I want to rush or anything, but I've had alot of pain. I have even had vaginal discharge twice or three times. And I'm not sexualy active and I haven't even gotten a guy to finger me yet.

What's wrong with me?

you might have a uti or a yeast infection. Have your mom take you to a doctor.

Don't be alarmed - 12 is still in the middle of the road. I know girls who were 16 at menarche. My sisters and I didn't start at the same age (or at my mom's age of menarche, either).

What it sounds like is you're starting to slowly develop a cycle. The cramps, pains, and other symptoms are likely your body going through mock ovulation or ovulation itself, which is very common before menarche. The vaginal discharge is very normal, too - cramps are contractions of the uterus that force out menstrual blood and tissue, babies, or, in your case, normal vaginal fluids. You should only be alarmed if they are not clear or white (or blood).

I would recommend some over-the-counter painkillers. Tylenol and Advil work best for my cramps; Aleve does absolutely nothing. See what works best for you. Also try to take them as soon as the cramps start.

Nothing is wrong with you. Every girl develops at a different rate. I was just over 18 when I got my first one. If you are active (meaning like with sports and such) that can delay it a bit. It will come. Just try to relax and don't worry about it. Just think of it this way... the longer it is til you start the more time you have to grow tall, and the less time you have to deal with it every month. Good Luck. If you are really concerned than talk to your mom or an adult (I stress adult, cuz your friends will tell you something is wrong when there isn't anything wrong).

Stop worrying about getting your period. It will happen soon enough. I was fourteen. You should go to the doctor, though, to have things checked out. The only thing wrong with you is your comment about you haven't even gotten a guy to finger you yet. Gross ! Your just twelve years old for God's sake. Stop trying to grow up too fast or you will regret it. Seriously !!

Nothing is wrong with you. The symptoms can be from something else other than your period. It varies from person to person for when they start their period. A couple of my friends haven't started yet and they are 15. So, don't worry about it. And don't be in a rush to receive it either. It's a very big hassle.

Nothing is wrong with you. Every girl is different. Some girls start their periods early and some start theirs late. Don't rush it, your time will come. Take it from me, periods are not a funny thing.

Well, first off you cant go by what happened to ur mom. everybody is different. i got mine at 11 and my sis didnt get it til she was 14. next, if you're getting all kinds of pain, ur probably having growth sperts. getting ur period doesn't necessarily affect every part of ur body. lastly, if ur discharging, ur body's probably getting ready for the real thing. don't worry unless u get in ur mid teens and dont get it by then.

You must go to an OBGYN and find out what's causing the pain. The doctor can see if something serious is going on. DON'T WAIT!!
