in a pet shop I saw someone cleaning the budgies cage, using a hoover [the type with the tube arm/nozzle] and the budgie landed feet first up to its waist in the nozzle !!

It depends on the type of vacuum you are using. If the dust or whatever goes through the blades creating the vacuum and into a bag, the answer is no. If the dust or whatever goes into a canister of some kind and doesn't go through the blade creating the vacuum the answer is yes. The first type would be the regular old every day upright vacuum. The second would be like a shop vacuum.

Most vacuum cleaners aren't powerful enough to suck clothing up!!! Possibly the industrial vacuums are??

Anything can be sucked up into a vacuum cleaner but Im sure you will burn up a belt in doing so.

I have sucked up the kids socks before! They seem to get right under the edge of the couch and in the vacuum they go!

yep, i'm sure my kids have done it a time or two. did the wifey leave you a chore list and no instructions? shame on her! Sorry, couldn't help to to give you a little crap. if you sucked up something you shouldn't have, it will most likely be somewhere in the vacuum you can easily get to. is usually simple to fix.

Yes, I have a Dyson, and have accidently sucked up a pair of nylons and panties with the hose. I would not recommend anything larger!

Yes. But you can always cut open the bag to get them out if you want them back all that badly.
