What'll I Do

Written by: Irving Berlin (b. Israel Balin)
From the Show: Alexander's Ragtime Band 1938 (S)
From the Show: Music Box Revue of 1923 (S)
From the Film: Big City 1948 (M)

What'll I do?
When you are far away
And I am blue
What'll I do?

What'll I do?
When I am wond'ring who
Is kissing you
What'll I do?

What'll I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?

When I'm alone
With only dreams of you
That won't come true
What'll I do?

What'll I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?

When I'm alone
With only dreams of you
That won't come true
What'll I do?

According to the Int'l Herald Tribune...

A plaintive version of the Irving Berlin standard, "What'll I Do," sung by Judy Garland, helped put over a Diet Coke commercial reminding consumers how bereft they can feel when they are deprived of their favorite soft drink. The ad was developed by Wieden & Kennedy.

It's the Irving Berlin tune called "What'll I do" and is sung by Judy Garland.
The song on other diet coke commercial, where a woman goes into the pictures on her mantelpiece, is by Scottish band "Aberfeldy" and is called "Summer's Gone".
