I have been playing badminton all along and only recently have started playing tennis. I tend to carry my 'badminton habits ' on the tennis court in terms of techniques. I guess I want to be a little better than the regular weekend hacker at the community park.
Other than recommending a "coach", any useful tips? anyone else had the same experience?

its the same thing with me...i play badminton too...but i play lawn tennis alongside....sometimes, my badminton habits actually help....its not anything to worry about...you should be happy you know how to play both of them.....with more consistent practice in tennis, you'll probably not face this problem
in my opinion, tennis is easier than badminton..the court may be longer but you dont have to run from net to baseline for every shot......

It might be hard for you since the footwork and court coverage of each sport are soooooo different.

Badminton's movements are mostly wrist and a bit of torso motion, hops and skips. While in tennis you use your whole body, upperbody for power and run all over the court (side steps, skips and dashes etc.).

Just compare the size of the court whether you playing singles or doubles on a tennis court is huge compared to badminton.

Good luck and have fun, i hope you switch to tennis.

Tennis needs more strength and the net is far and short. And in Badminton we stay close to net; so it doesn't need too much strength. Badminton needs the movement of your wrist. So if u play with your wrist in Tennis you could break your wrist. Therefore It is a complete opposite games. That I can tell because I am a good player of both games.

Ithink that u shd stop thinking abt badminton while u are playing tennis; cause by thinking abt badm., u are playing as if u were playing badmn. So forget abt unlearning badmn & while playing tennis think and play Tennis only.
Slowly slowly u will get into the skin of the game and play tennis as it shd be played.
Gd luck !!!!!
