I'm not good at this whole "gift giving" thing, even though I desperately try to be. I've already picked out some personal stuff, like a small painting I've done for her and some goofy socks that I know she'll like. . .but what else might be good? Some sort of baked goods? A cake with a hand saw inside? She's 27 and not extremely girly, if that helps at all.

Let me clarify--it's not for a special occasion, it's just that she's always sending me books or little random things in the mail, and I wanted to repay her.:)

I detected a great sense of humor from you, when you mentioned the cake with the hand saw.
Maybe what you might want to do, is make the basket a theme type thing.
If she is into something that she really likes...ok...let's say computers as an example...get her computer related things...like a new mouse, a mouse pad.
An organizer for her pens.
Paper clips, note pads.
Computer Extension cord.
Sun glasses, if she is on the computer for a long time. Headache pills for those all nighters.
Floppy disks.
The above was an example: It's a theme basket.

And if you want to send her something on another occasion, try this website http://www.mylightplates.com

Well you know her best, what does she like? Is she kind of brainy? Perhaps a logic problem book like you find at the drugstore (with the crossword puzzles).

Is she somewhat religious? Perhaps a small inspirational book. Is she into feminism? Perhaps a small book on that.

What about gift cards, does she like Mcdonalds nuggets or friendlys ice cream?

Just try to think of things she enjoys and brings a smile to her face, you will put together a nice package I am sure.

Where is she, and is this for a special occasion? You said care package, so I wondered if she was away at college or in the military or something.
