I want to buy windows vista but I have more than one computer. Do I need to buy it more than once or do a certain amount of installations come with the package? (I want to get the home premium version).

You need to buy a separate license for each installation. A standard retail copy comes with one license.

I believe there is provision to move a license between machines, but that is intended for when you upgrade your hardware.

of course, you are able to. Many have carried out it. First you will possibly be able to desire to make a back up reproduction of the VISTA O/S of your comp making use of a sparkling DVD Rom (Vista archives are too super for a single CD Rom). then you certainly might desire to have a Win XP O/S (unique from Microsoft) installation disc - the Vista O/S would be immediately erased at the same time as installation the XP. yet i do no longer agree that Vista must be "prevented" - that's totally equivalent to XP - has just about each of an identical beneficial factors + some new. the only subject is that there won't be all drivers available for the hardware you're presently making use of with XP. The in touch businesses (alongside with e.g. Apple for its iPod and Nokia for its Communicator telephone etc) are yet to return out with driving force utility for Vista. later on, whenever you sense gentle, use the DVD to re-set up Vista.

No, you can only install one copy of Windows Vista on each computer. That's just Microsoft rules... I want see them change this rule because it is unfair for consumers to pay so much money for the OS and be able to install the OS on only one of their computers.

Technically it is illegal to install it on multiple computers, but I'd do it anyway. Screw Microsoft!! they release a substandard product, charge WAY too much for it, charge too much for the tech support...greedy bastards!! I would burn a copy of the disc, and give it to as many people as possible, just to keep them from having to buy it, and aid Microsoft in their pocket-fattening scheme.

It's a single use license for one computer

you could use the activation workaround for additional installations....i got my copy of ultimate off p2p and used "2099 time activation" from team clony without any trouble

you need to buy an extra liscence for each computer but extra liscences are heavily reduced after buying the first copy of vista. check microsofts website for the best prices!

it all depends. the RC versions are apart of the MSDN and are able to install on up to 10 pc's. i never had the full version yet so i don't know if you are able to install it on 3 pc's or just your one computer.

Of course not, Its Microsoft, you need separate licenses for each system, unless you have a pirated DVD.
