Yes it will! Press f10 repeatedly during boot and a restore menu will pop up. I build all my own systems but this is one reason I suggest the average PC user buy an HP! It makes it so simple for someone to restore.

Yes, it is used to store recovery data in the event you might have gotten your C:\ drive corrupted. You can restore a portion of the C:\ Drive or totally restore the system to it's original pristine condition. There is usually a restore disk that comes with the computer, either a floppy or a CD, that is used to access the recovery process.

Further instructions on how to use this process is covered by 'Cheryl G.'s' answer in HP's forums. (see the resource link below).

What do you advise? in the BIOS? if so as that would not probably have any effect whilst abode windows has booted using fact the BIOS isn't any longer in use. A abode windows installation regularly collects crud over the years. possibly that's time for a spring sparkling?

it is used by the hp recovery cd as a temporary install location for the recovery system's files....basically it copies the files needed to run the recovery program into this location because it formats the c drive during the actual recovery process

keep it you will need it if you ever need to reinstall windows back to the way it was when you first bought your computer. That will do that for you. You dont even need cd's. The key to do to that is F10.
