Why did the stretch marks appear on my skin?

I haven't gained weight, in fact, I've been losing weight. I've heard that it may be the fact I'm growing, or that it just happens to some girls, skinny or not. I just want to know how I can get rid of them, or at least have them fade.

I live in the VI and because of the heat, I can't keep my arms covered and my forearms are streaked with marks. I'm self-consious!

Help please =(

Sorry. Stretch marks don't go away. They do fade over time. The amount of time varies from person to person and on the degree of elasticity of your skin too.

Take a look at this website. It has some good stuff on stretch marks on it.

Stretch marks can not be gotten rid of! Sucks, I know. But you can use lotion regularly and vitamin E oil. This will help prevent more. Also make sure you are eating good healthy foods, like vegetables, and fruits are really great for the skin. I am a very think person! WAS!!! I was 88 to 90 lbs. until I was 30!
(122lbs. now) I had children and wasn't knowledged on moisturizing my skin while I was pregnant and my doc says that my stretch marks were probably worse due to not enough moisture and he advised on the vitamin E oil or lotions containing it and fruits, fruits, and more fruits! When I had my second son, I found only ONE extra stretch mark. My sister in law did what my doc said and she had like two on her belly after having her baby. Doc says its all about moisturizing!

You're body is probably growing taller faster than your skin is quite ready for. Almost all girls get stretch marks. They are very normal. Even though you're not gaining weight...you're getting longer.

There are creams and other treatments you can use to help them fade faster. Try a lotion with lactic acid in it.

It doesn't only happen to those who gain weight, and it doesn't only happen to girls. It is very normal for teens to develop stretch marks due to growth--in other words, your skin needs to catch up with your growth. You'll be fine--all of my kids had some (3 girls, 3 boys), and they don't any more in their 20s.

The only suggestion I can give is the one from the 70's, and that's to apply cocoa butter cream to them.
You might want to be sure to use a good sunscreen if you're going outside, as exposure to sun can make them more visible.
