It would be a huge mistake to try for a divorce involving children, by yourself. It won't cost you millions, some take payment plans as well. You need to have a lawyer help you get your rights, and a fair settlement. Don't just give up and throw it all away, you worked for your cars, furniture, etc. Insuring you have full contact with your child is imperative, spend the money to make sure that happens.

Sure this is very easy or at least the paperwork is. You just have to file for divorce with your local courthouse. Now you can take your chances with the judge on splitting the marital assets or try to sit down with her and work out everything outside of court and get it down on paper and notorized. The biggest problem is going to come with child custody. Unless you can prove her unfit, charged with child abuse or drug/mental abuse via police reports or medical reports, chances are the judge will award custody to her (usual procedure) and youre going to get child support and Texas mandated visitation rights. You dont really need a lawyer unless shes going to contest it and its going to get real messy. A suggestion here; instead of getting an attorney, hire a Paralegal. They do the attys legwork and cost a whole lot less. The only thing , in most states, the Paralegal cant take the case into court but can help you tremendously and save you big bucks. Good luck

Do your research on the net! Before you file change a joint account to one in your name only. Also change beneficiary information before you file. Do not work any overtime and live on as little money as you can(appear broke to the court). If you want to get custody of your children you will need a lawyer. Get as many family and friends together to testify how much of a loser you wife is. You will need to show the court and prove that you are the primary caretaker of the child. If you don't you will not get custody.

Research child custody issues on the net. if she moves in with a man during the divorce you could get custody. Also live clean, stay away from women while you divorce and don't live with anyone while you are divorcing, it could affect custody.

Good luck!

Anyone can file for divorce. You just go to the court house and submit the papers. Only reason you would need an attorney is if the you and your wife are going to battle over support or the child. I don't know if TX is like VA but you have separation period in VA before you can actually get the divorce.

Download the forms off of the internet..

You can file on your own, if you have a lot of property, you may want to consider a lawyer. Or if you want custody, you probably will need one unless you can prove very poor judgement as a mother on her part.
