Lev Yashin (who was so good they named the best goalkeeper award, the yashin award)
Gordon Banks (was considered to the best at his peak)
Oliver Kahn (was the most important player in the 2002 world cup)
Iker Casillas (think of all those penalty saves against ireland in 2002)
Marcos (The brazillian keeper in the 2002 world cup, kept them in games at times and was forgotting about shortley after, so he deserves a mention)

whooof what a question as an impartial england fan (not ) it's easy to be a world class goalkeeper in a world class team , ie you don't do a great deal if the team is that good , it's close between banks and yashin but i wouldgive it to yashin as banks played in a world class team atr the time , pat jennings iwould agree with too crap team brillliant goal keeper, schmichel also brilliant too also charasmatic, and the most under rated at the time brad friedel though not highly rated has performed consistently in one of the most competetive leagues in the world for years!!!

Just something to think about: Almost every answer has exclusively European players.....How has S. America won so many world cups without any goalkeepers?
Also, let me add one name (also Euro) to the impressive list above:
Jean-Marie Pfaff
