Please provide input, as well as sources for your opinion. I am writing an essay for a political studies class answering that question, and am interested in a variety of sources of opinion.

The relation would be cold.

Canada will stop supporting Quebec and all of it's social programs. They absolutely can't do that because we (I'm a Quebecer) already have a debt of over 120 BILLION dollars! The separatists expect everyone to come to aid us and our little project. In short the separatists expect perfect relations.
Unfortunately for them, this isn't a fairy tale.

At first, Canada wouldn't be interested in having great relations with a sovereign Quebec. Us Canadians already have a great relation with them, so much so that Quebec is a Canadian province! So if we chose to separate, it must be because we don't want to have any relations with them, right?Eventually of course, the more capitalist side of us will sink in a better relations will start up.

If it's "sovereign", then Quebec would hold no relationship to Canada. It would be a foreign country.

Amicable ally with favoured nation status, most likely. Quebec is one of Canada's most economically important areas, and if it were to split off Canada would still want to have acess. Embitterned enemy, unlikely but possible.

Well, since they would speak French, the language of surrender, I imagine that even Canada would be able to invade Quebec and take it over.

And this time, do away with the dual language rubbish. Make them speak English or send them to France... or let them suffer and perish in their frensh speaking hovels.
