This sounds like a high end type of computer, the reason for 2 video cards is to set it to SLI, this feature allows you to use 2 video cards for more performance, you can Google SLI and get a bunch or info about it, you will love it. and as for the DVD-ROM, well sometimes people like to have a source and a destination when burning CD's, that way you don't have to create an image on your hard drive then burn your music CD a friend let you borrow.

If that is using SLI, it will perform like a SINGLE 6600LE. why? because to take advantage of it you need to push the resolution over 2048 by 1600+. As this chart PROVES,
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html
there is almost NO benefit to using sli or crossfire as a SINGLE card can stomp the crap out of it. Maybe some day it will actually work.
As to 2 cd players, it makes it easier to burn cd/dvds.

just consider yourself a very lucky guy, what you have got is a s.l.i(scalable link interface)enabled system
using 2 x graphic cards produces 75% improvement on frame rates compared to a single card
nvidia introduced s.l.i first and then a.t.i brought out their own version of dual graphic cards "crossfire"
older agp cards cannot be s.l.i enabled ,this is a technology unique to the modern interface pci-express,and only the middle to high end cards are s.l.i compatible
try playing a modern game such as doom3(http://www.doom3.com/)or quake4(http://www.quake4game.com/)to test your new cards, also why not run a benchmark such as 3dmark 2005(http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark05/),this will give you a score which you can compare with other p.c,s from around the world
let me know what type of graphic cards you have(to do this go to start>control panel>display>settings>and the name of your card will be there next to the name of your monitor)
good luck with your new p.c!
ive just noticed you have updated your question, forget my last sentence,6600le are not bad,and x2 will make them equal to say a geforce 7600gt,however remember when you want to upgarde your current graphic cards, you need to upgrade both as you cannot mix cards in a s.l.i set up,you can use different cards in the same model(for example 6600le and a 6600gt(allowed)) but not for example a 6600le and a 7600gs
hope this helps for future reference
good luck

Your computer has two nVidia 6600LE SLi cards.
Simply speaking, SLi is combining two graphic cards for most demanding games. If you're not serious gamer, it will be overkill.
Using both DVD player and DVD burner is convenient for DVD copying.

Recommendation: If you're serious gamer & DVD professional, keep your computer. Otherwise return or exchange your computer.
