slope is a constant
if you plot the point you can count out the slope by the change in y over the change in x
(how far up or down) over (how far left or right)
down and left are negative movements and
up and right are positive movements
so start a(4,5) go down 2 and right 1 to (5,3)
or start at (5,3) and go up 2 and left 1 to (4,5)
but you can find this slope also by y2-y1/x2-x1
so 5-3/4-5=2/-1=-2
or 3-5/5-4=-2/1=-2

Slope is "rise over run." Going from (4,5) to (5,3) you go up 1 and over -2, so the slope is 1/-2 or - 1/2.

The slope(m) between two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is the change in y divided by the change in x.
m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2-x1)
m = (3-5) / (5-4) = -2
y = mx + b
3 = -2(5) + b
3 = -10 + b
b = 13
y = -2x + 13
