This may seem like a stupid question, but I was wanting to make a three color-layered candle. I was wondering if I can use the wicks I have from when I had a candle-making party and melt down candles I already have that didn't come out right.

Thanks to all of you. I thought I might be able to, but wasn't quite sure.

absolutely. they will have a different level of quality and the smell, if they are aromatic, may be less strong than the original, but you can. I have done this myself with candles that have gotten low in their jars and I save up a bunch until I have enough to make a decent size one.

I had a friend who made new candles from old candle wax all the time. They worked fine, just make sure that you don't mix too many differently scented candles together.

No it won't. If it doesn't come out the way you want it you just melt it down and do it all over again. It'll work fine. Just make sure if they are scented waxes that they go good together. I made one that smelled like we were having a beer party as soon as you opened the front door. My neighbor took it back to Iowa with him when he moved.

Yes you can, as long as the wax is reasonably clean. I have done it. If there is cotton dust, etc. in the wax, it may cause slight sparking around the wick when it burns, but, not a big concern. Happy recycling!

Nope. Wax is wax, is wax. The wax remains unchanged for the most part. If it has not burned and been used as fuel, it still has its basic properties.

used to make tons of candles when i was growing up. :)

I recycle old candles all the time, so you shouldn't have a problem.

It will only hurt if you pour the wax on you're self. Otherwise, no problem.
