Yankees, Red Sox. Why?

Please!! That's like trying to compare a BMW with a Volkswagen. Do the math!!! The Yankees are by far the superior franchise. All you have to do is look at the history of the two teams. This year will be no different. The Yankees have the better lineup, and the better pitching. The Red Sox have no pitching. They are putting all their eggs in one basket and praying that this triple A joke from Japan is going to take the to the promise land. Yea, right!! The Yankees will win their 27 World Championship this year while the Red Sox players sit home and watch the playoffs in the comfort of their living rooms.

The Yankees are better. This is why I think they are better that the Red Sox:

26 World Series Championships
39 A.L. Pennants
The Yankees have all positions represented in the Hall of Fame
The Yankees have won the A.L. East every year since 1998.
The Red Sox have finished in second place to the Yankees from 1998-2005 which is a record for consecutive years in finishing in second place
The Yankees have retired the most numbers with 15
It doesn't take 86 years for the Yankees to win a World Series
The Red Sox haven't won the Division since 1995
The Red Sox are the last team to accept segregation
The Yankees have had more 100+ win seasons than the Red Sox

In pure baseball terms and without even thinking of the best baseball team, the Giants. I believe they are both equally good. Despite that they have had rough times in their rivalry they need each other to thrive. Take away the Red Sox and the Yanks DO NOT spend over $200 million on has beens. Take away the Yanks and the Red Sox are just another team.

If you mean which is the better this YEAR then I gotta go with the Red Sox. The Yanks do have a solid pitching prospect that could be an immediate #2 guy and find himself a #1 rotation guy within a year or two. On the overpayed Yankees that means a lot.

This year, I'd have to say the Red Sox. But it's very close.

They have a deeper pitching staff, while the Yankees have been relying on hitting for the past few years. This year, the Yankees haven't added any reliable pitching yet, while the Red Sox have added Daisuke. While Daisuke isn't proven in the MLB, he does have quality stuff and should be a reliable pitcher at worst.

The advantage the Yankees have is that they still have Mariano Rivera to close games out, while Red Sox are moving Jonathan Papelbon out of the closer role and into the rotation. If the Red Sox can find a reliable closer, the Red Sox are the better team. But if the Red Sox cannot find someone to fill that role, the Yankees have a slight advantage.

But, how do the Yankees get to Rivera with aging starters and subpar relief? Hmmmmm........

The yankees because they have 26 world series titles. Also they have a 297 blife time batting average stud at shortstop in Derek Jeter. They have a former AL batting champion in A-rod who had a shaky season last year but is a great player. One of the fastest guys in the outfield and on the bases in Johnny Damon. They have one of the best ranked pitching staff. Inculding Kei Ilgwa who might i add is haveing a huge pre-season for the yankees. The red sox totally messed up but spending a total 101 million dollars for a guy who can't even throw the gyro ball he promised. Last but certainly not least there manager Joe Torre is a AL manager of the year severaql times in a row.

Come on buddy, what kind of question is this. the Yankees were, are, and will always be the better team. I'm tired of hearing about the Sox staff. It sucks ***. Dice - K got shelled today. Must be the gyroball.

Red Sox's, even thought Yank's payroll is larger+Allstars.
But with Boston newest addition of Dice-K Matsuzaka he's going to be a difference maker. David Ortiz is always on FIRE!.
