Make sure you get pain killers from your vet. Be sure that no one tries to pick her up and play with her until she is healed. She is also going to try to kick and scratch at the stitches, so be sure you ask the vet how to keep her away from them.

ok, i bred a pair of guinea pigs jointly in 2005 and the sow gave delivery to 4 stay pigs and one nevertheless born, later the evening between the extra youthful died too. From there I had 3 toddlers, 2 ladies and a boy - the females I nevertheless have in recent times and plus ive stored the mothers and fathers and have 2 others I genuinely have rescued. Breeding guinea pigs is a huge decision, at first you are able to not do in basic terms it to maintain the different happy - an time-honored muddle is 5-7 youthful - what is going to you do with something? human beings do no longer often handle litters lots. Plus! the girls persons pelvis fuses while she is around 12months of age, any pregnancies occuring around or after this date might reason dystocia (problems in delivery) or the toddlers starting to be caught this might want a caeserean by technique of a vet and is severe priced. i might advise that your guinea pig is presented to ANY new pig over 2 weeks, start up on impartial territory: a shower, kitchen floor (faraway from predators), settee and not something the place your guinea performs. As to the male/lady business company, the superb pairing is a spayed sow and neutured boar. women persons will sort a dominance order (the squealing you heard) in time it would come to a selection yet while injuries take place then needless to say eliminate her. on occasion guinea pigs do in basic terms no longer want yet another for business company even nevertheless they're particularly sociable with their very own sort. Any questions i'm going to be happy to respond to and that i wish it helped :)

Hopefully your vet has experience in spaying small rodents.
I would ask her about Critical Care for herbivores by Oxbow to have on hand. Often times, when rodents are put under anesthesia, they sometimes have trouble with their appetite. CC is good to have on hand for this. I'm assuming that she is also going to be on a course of antibiotics, so adding a probiotic will be helpful to maintain her gut flora. I use acidophilus.

Good luck on the surgery!
