If I were you I would get some assesories - they are the best way to update outfits. Get some long necklaces with large charms as they are big at the moment. Claires sell them at cheap prices but great designs.
Also maybe buy a few tops in this spring/summer colours which will be citrus shades - yellow, orange, lime green and pink and also elecric blue will be really in too... (i love electric blueeeee) :)
Chunky platform style heels are in too so maybe get a pair of them - shoes can make an outfit!!!

I would definetely say tank-tops the really cute ones that are like Pink and Orange..just like bright colors[for summer] and cute shorts that arent too short but just short enough to look good with the tank-top or camis!!
