have them tied if you were 33 yrs old and already have a 5 yr old and I am currently pregnant (34wks) and with my pregnancies I've had some problems with gestational diabetes and hbp at times as well. I really do not want anymore children after this one nor does my husband but I am still scared of the surgery and any possible side effects. All opinions welcome.

I am 28 yrs old my husband is 34 yrs old we have a 4 yr old son and I am 36 weeks+4 with my second boy. I am getting mine tied after the birth. We do not want any more. So it is the best thing to do. I don't want to have to take birth control all the time. Surgery isn't that bad from what I hear. I am nervous about it too. The being put to sleep part. But I have gallstones and am having my gall bladder removed at the same time as my tubes tied. So it works out. Good luck.

I have had 3 children two of which were born C-section. I will be able to have one more before the doctors try to talk me into having my tubes tied (they don't like doing more than three C-sections). I think it's bad though, I don't want it done I'm kinda against it and so is my religion but if i have to i have to.

if you're POSITIVE you don't want anymore kids and it's causing you health problems then why not? But I never would personally because what if one of your kids came up with a disease (leukemia for example) and you needed to have another child with a bone marrow match. I know it's only a what if, but that's a reason for me... Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy

If your 100% sure you don't want any more kids.. then go ahead!

I agree with Robyn! Well said! You're going to have some down time anyways from just labor. Its much safer for men.. and in most cases it can be reversible!

Good luck!

well if you dont want any more kids there are other ways that you cant get pregnant. My mom got this like tube in her vagina i dont really know how that works but you have to like renew it every 10 years so thats good. or the father can get fixed if you dont want to deal with it.

I guess if I was in your situation I would consider it but
I agree with Robyn.
I have had three c-sections and my doctor says I should
not have any more c-sections/babies... but I have never even
thought about having my tubes tied.

its a really simple procedure, so im told. im actually going to have it done soon after i give birth to my 6th child. i know its day surgery and of course like any other surgery you get discomfort and pain, but think about it. it cant be as bas as labor, right???

tell the hubby to have a vasectomy -- they're a lot safer, don't
hurt real bad and ready to go to work in a couple of days.
(yes, everything works -- you just trade bullets for blanks, no
physical change or feelings)

No I wouldn't do that. In my opinion it's a woman's job to give her husband children.
