there are a lot of Catholics in both countries. I think the connection is mainly having to do with religion.

two predominantly catholic countries, the irish at the time of the famine left ireland to various places around the world,the united states was a primary place for them to go other countries incluse canada,scotland,mexico and others. they left for survival. the irish have helped the mexicans on more than one occasion in battle and both countries have never had any problems with eachother.

I don't get the question but my boyfriend is from Ireland and his father was Mexican-American....does that count?
