Check out Maslow's hierarchy of human needs.

If you have normal human psychology, you will be able to identify areas in which you are lacking that are a bit more specific than feeling lost or not belonging. For example, the items under "Esteem" seem applicable. Then you can break those down into tasks or daily things to do and work on them.

Another practical approach would be to talk to someone about this feeling (a professional might be best at getting to the core of the problem).

Or you can reflect on times when you have not felt lost and consider what was different then, and how you can work on the present to restore or establish anything that will help.

I wouldn't totally discount prayer either. It might help if you approach it from the right angle.

Get a piece of paper, divide it in to four boxes.

Top left box - list all the thing you DO like about your life.
Top right box - list all the thing you DON'T like about your life.

Bottom left box - Where are you now?
Bottom right box - Where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years time.

Now you have an action plan.
How can you change the things in the top right box?
How can you achieve the things in the bottom right box (exams / experience / change jobs etc)?
