This is one method to do this;

You are looking for the TIME , so solve for time.
Take the race length and divide it by the mean speed:
1131 miles / 5.3 mi/hr = 213.3962 hours (hrs)
Now simply reduce to the lower units of time.
x days = 213.3962 hrs ; A day is 24 hrs so,
x 24 hours = 213.3962 hrs OR x (days) = 213.3962 hrs/24 hrs. This will be 8.89 days.
Since will will be using complete units such as day, hours., etc, we will simply write W = 8 days. The .89 will be used to compute the hours and such.
0.89 days x 24 hours/day = x hours = 21.39 (hours). We'll use just 21 hours as X.
Again, take the hour portion as X and continue with the .39 hrs.
0.39 hrs x 60 min/hr = y minutes = 23.77 minutes or just 23 min.
And finally, 0.77 min X 60 seconds/min = 46.41 seconds

So it would be: 8 days, 21 hours, 23 minutes, and 46 (46.41) seconds.
