When you first go to the school. You must act confident. If you go on a school day with a parent just to check out the school. Be cool as students around the school site look at you. Make sure you look good on your first day aswell and dont be afraid to talk to people. This is what i did. And now i happily have many friends throughout the school.

Well.. being the new kid is tough.. I was the new kid a lot... :) we moved a lot. Do not wait for friends to come to you. The most important thing is not to be shy... even if you are shy, work real hard on being outgoing. Let the other kids know you want to be friends. This is easier said than done, but if you walk in there with a smile, even if you have to hide your fear.. your first day will be really hard.. but.. once that first day is down, you will be fine. And at least you are starting the school year out. There were 2 times when it was the middle of the school year.. haha now that sucked.. but.. only for a few days.

Be yourself! Be genuine!
And don't worry what others think!
I bet my advice is hard to take since I am 42 and long out of school, but I look back and wish I had taken that advice.
Trust me, you will not see any of these people again once you graduate!
Don't get into clicks, spread yourself around.
I was always friends with a lot of different groups in school.
Remember, be you!!
Good Luck!

The most important thing is to be outgoing. People, especially in the 1st few weeks of school are going to be defensive and try to get together with friends they already know. You HAVE to be a person you would like to talk to yourself. Don't be afriad to put yourself out there and get rejected from a few people. Give it time...in a few months you will feel comfortable in a new group of friends.

yeah you should be fine, just treat it as if its another ordinary school day. What school (high school, middle school, or college?) are you going to? Anyway its the same for any school.
