I'm a guy and I've always wanted a pair of checkered Vans slip-on shoes. However, it seems like lately a lot of girls are wearing them at school at stuff. I think it would be fine to wear them but I'm afraid of the possibility of jokes, pointing, and general abuse. Can i buy myself a pair or will i get called "girly"?

Dude, I think every guy I know between the age of 14 and 41 has a pair...either checkered, or they make really cool ones with a skull and crossbones on them. They're not girly at all!

I own two pairs of checkered vans slip-ons, a pair of brown & tan & a pair of green & light green. They are great shoes & I get lots of compliments on them. Go For It!!!!!

Pshaw, that's like asking if guys are still allowed to wear converses! Of course you can still wear slip-on checkered vans! And you'll look great in them too!

who cares if some people call you girly. if u like em, rock em and be proud! if they're not picking on your vans they just pick on ya for something else. Be you - regardless of how trendy, people will respect the fact that you're not afraid to do your own thing!

everybody wears trucks. it fairly relies upon on what number of human beings you opt for to appear as if. At my college, everybody both wears trucks or talk. everybody seems a similar... a minimum of the footwear. yet, i used to have a pair. they are comfortable and that i love that they are ordinary to slip on and stale... like apartments. if u do want a pair by, i love the checkered ones. although, i imagine extra human beings have checkered ones so if u opt for to be extra unique, perhaps u might want to opt for to get the polka dot ones. those are wonderful too btw.

sure you can wear those! i've seen guys wear those alot lately, and even if they weren't, who cares what other people think? wear what you like and be happy with it, if people are so lame that they wanna waste their time making fun of someone else's original style, then they need to get a life, that's their problem, not yours - God bless!

I don't really see a problem with that. At my school, there are boys who wear those shoes and they don't get laughed at. And there are girls wearing them too.
