Hi.

I'd like a signed, personalized book signed by author Kurt Vonnegut. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get one? Obviously, eBay and similar aren't options because I want it personalized. As far as I know, Vonnegut doesn't do book signings/tours any more and he's not really a young guy. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Actually, I think he's still considered an associate professor in the Iowa Creative Writing Program. I know he's also been a visiting lecturer at Smith College. I met him several years ago, probably ten now, when he did a reading at OSU. I would go through his university and just send him a copy of the book with a letter. If it is never returned, you're only out the cost of shipping. You might also try his publisher.

Good Luck.

I have seen signed copies of his works for sale on eBay, and they're pretty expensive. You might try old booksellers or online booksellers. He lives in New York City, but that probably doesn't help you much.

You might check to see if he has a website where you can contact him. Maybe if you arranged to send a copy of one of his books to him with a stamped return mailer and tell him how much it would mean to you, etc., he'd sign it and send it back to you. I think he'd be that cool. He's eighty-five years old, so you'd better get one soon.
