Good or evil? And why?

If you think he is good, do you dislike any of the Marauders, like James or Sirius, like I do, because it pretty much made Severus turn to the dark side?

Correction:

If you think he is good or evil, do you hate any of the Marauders for making him the way he is?

Also, Rowling hints that Snape was once/or could possibly fall in love in the next book.

Other than the already known female characters, do you think that a new character will come onto the scene and be the object of Severus's affections?

I believe Snape is good- he is an extremely complex character, but I believe that ultimately he is on the Dumbledore's side.

I believe Snape's childhood made him turn out to be the person he is... and I don't think the Marauders made his life any easier... but ultimately he had a choice and he made the choice to join Voldemort... however, he later made the choice to spy for the light... so therefore he is good...

I can't wait for the final book- especially to find out where Snape's allegiance lies...

I think Snape is good. He's a really complex caracter and it's hard to know what he's thinking, but ultimately I think he's good. He joined Voldemort I think cause he had a bad childhood, his dad was abusive, he was generally an outcast. I do believe he is fully on the good side, Dumbledore is to smart to be fooled for that long. He said he had an ironclad reason for trusting Snape, and I dont believe it's that he's sorry James and Lilly died. Dumbledore trusts Snape, so I do too.

I dont dislike any of the Marauders I dont think they caused Snape to become a death eater.....ok, i'll admit James was kinda.......well, this is what Sirius and Lupin have to say on the subject:

"James and Snape hated each other from the moment the set eyes on each other, it was just one of those things, you can understant that can't you?"
_____

Lupin looked sideways at Sirius and then said "Look, Harry, what you've got to understand is that your father and Sirius were the best in the school at whatever they did -- everyone thought they were the height of cool -- if they sometimes got a bit carried away--
"If we were sometimes arrogant little berks, you mean," Sirius said.
Lupin smiled
______

"Well...I thought he [James] was a bit of an idoit," said Harry
"Of course he was a bit of an Idoit!" said Sirius bracingly, "We were all idoits!"
_____

"How come she [Lilly] married him [James]?" Harry asked misrably "She hated him!"
"Nah, she didn't," said Sirius.
"She started going out with him in seventh year" said Lupin
"Once James had deflated his head a bit," said Sirius
_____

So they knew they were jerks. They grew out of it, though. They still dont like Snape, but hey! I think Snape is to blame just as much as the Marauders. If he didn't give them reasons to dislike him he wouldn't have been so misrable.
Snape and James kinda reminds me of Harry and Malfoy, they hated eachother from their first meeting too

I personally think that snape is good. Because, why did he teach Harry Ocumsomethingsomething? Why did he save Harry in the first year at Hogwarts? Most of these questions will be answered in the seventh book. Guess we'll have to wait until then. Oh and maybe Snape killed Dumboldore because he made an Unbreakable Vow with Dumboldore saying that he has to kill him in the sixth year or something.

SNAPE IS GOOD. HIS TIME IN THE DARK WAS NOT BECAUSE OF THE MAURAUDERS BUT BECAUSE OF HIS OWN LIFE AT HOME. HIS FATHER WAS ABUSIVE AND BAD. HE FOLLOWED THE LIKE FATHER LIKE SON. HARRY LEARNED THIS WHILE LOOKING INTO SNAPES MEMORYS DURING OCCLEMENCY. so dont blame people who have died (james and sirius) for snapes inadequecy. Snapes issues are caused by his home life not school life.

Snape had to kill Dumbledore to keep his cover but he did not kill harry even when harry was trying to hurt him. even though it would have been very easy for him to do so.

Dumbledore trusts snape and thats enough for me.

Good. He was spying on Voldemort but hasd to make the Unbreakable Vow to earn the Death Eater's trust and after that if he didn't help Draco Malfoy and kill Dumbledore he himself would have died.

I think he's good... remember Dumbledore was smart. He wouldn't be dumb enough to be tricked like that.
