Read Brenda, Lisa, Susy Q and all the other names she uses to post questions and you will have a very clear understanding to their thought process or lack there of. I see the same thing happening that happened when I came home from my second tour in Viet Nam. The far left liberal Democrats and Communist sympathizers in Congress defunded the troops when the North was about to collapse. This in turn led to millions of deaths of innocent people in Cambodia and Viet Nam. I see the same people about to do the same thing now with their "non-binding resolutions" that embolden our enemies and is a blatant attempt to affect the morale of our troops and to suck up to the New York Times slimes types. They did this before for political expediency and they will do it again all the while claiming what great patriots they are. The evidence of the truth I speak here will be the bad rating that will be given this answer because the liberals have always tried to silence anyone that did not march lock step to their anti-American bashing. There are 17 U.N. Resolutions that Saddam failed to comply with. Remember the Food for Oil scams that members of the Security Council were being paid off. The Kurds made a T.V commercial that ran across American television thanking us for their freedom. The vast majority of Iraqi Providences are under Iraqi control and goverments. The Liberals hate Bush so much that they would rather see the Iraq people killed enmasses so they can blame it on Bush.

We don't have the resources or the manpower to control the entire Middle East. Nowhere close to enough.

And since the Middle East hasn't known peace in at least half a centuries, if not multiple centuries, it's reasonable to assume that there will continue to be significant conflict in the region for several decades, if not longer.

So, the question is -- why should we throw teaspoons of water on what is already a raging far? We can't put it out the flames with what we have, and all we can do is get burned in the process.

So, either we change the model, and try something completely different, or we allow other countries to govern themselves and fight among themselves if they want. Either way, what we're currently trying is not going to stop the fire.

Yes, we believe that we should leave, and no, the mideast will not go up in flames. The shiites represent a sizable majority in Iraq and they're more than capable (ruthless enough) of putting down the insurgency.

Washington's allies in the mideast are all sunnis, who've convinced the white house that shiites are evil dogs. It's nonsense. but the bush admin. fears the shiites and their relationship with iran, who've never attacked anybody in 1500 yrs.

We know for a fact that after the usa occupied iraq, the sunnis were slaughtering shiites as they continue to do, and the shiites DID NOT retaliate for the first few years. Only after al qaeda bombed a holy shiite mosque did the shiites finally begin fighting back. keep in mind that al qaeda is sunnis.

The majority shiites have demonstrated their patience and willingness to live peacefully with the sunni minority.

If the sunnis don't stop the attacks after the us pullout, the shiites will put them down. as the majority, they have the right to defend themselves. oddly enough, the usa should back the shiite majority, just as we supported (eventually)black south africans against apartheid.

Of course the liberal just want everyone to get along. However there are millions of Muslims that want to cut every western Europeans throat. If you don't believe that, well you will find out the truth when America is attacked again. The Democrats will be in charge and I can't wait to see how they will handle it. I bet the Democrats will do the same thing that Bush did. Find out as best as possible who was responsible and bomb the hell out of them. What else can we as a nation do when we are attacked???

The problem is that mid-East nations have been warring since well before the birth of the US. The Arab/Jewish conflict goes back to before the birth of Christ. Thinking the we (the US) can step in and fix the problem is ludicrous. Our biggest "ally" in the mid-East is Israel - the 6th richest nation in the would and recipient of 2/3 of all of our foreign aid. It is impossible to even attempt to broker peace while arming one side and vilifying the other.

We went to war with Iraq for violating a dozen or so UN resolutions, but fund and praise Israel who is in violation of over 50. US hypocrisy at it's finest...

The short, easy answer is - yes. No funding, no troops, no support until all sides come to the bargaining table and work out a mutually acceptable compromise (or bomb each other into oblivion). We need to stop sticking our nose into other peoples business and stop choosing sides in a conflict that pre-dates our existence.

The liberal democrats want the USA to pull out and leave the Middle East. But, it will be the USA that goes up in flames. Because the fighting will be over here in our streets.

I'm a democrat but I am torn because there are so many things that we ruined, for example there basic infrastructure. I feel that we have an obligation to stay and protect the civilians until their government can protect them.

I'm with Steve C on this one but I'd add that we should secretly arm both sides to be sure we're friends with the winner. We don't want either side cozying up to Iran or anyone else.

I could give a sh* t about the Middle East. What we should do is move our troops to the borders of Iraq and allow the Sunnis and Shiites to blow the sh*t out of one another. When they decide to start acting like human beings, we can help them to stabilize their country. We have no place in a fight between two sets of madmen. I love how you conveniently didn't mention that it was Republicans that got us into this mess.
