It sounds like the fuse in the plug is over rated, fit a lower value one.
If the drum turns ok check the heating elements, see if it trips on high or low heat. Turn the drum by hand to be sure it's loose.

Typically the fuse in the plug will blow when there is a sudden voltage spike. Within a tumble dryer you have a very large electric heating element, if there is a problem with the element it will increase its resistance as the fault has the effect of the heating, this results in it drawing to much current and tripping the RCD. Unfortunately it will be more cost effective to replace the dryer.

sounds like the heater element or motor is shorting, the reason its not blowing the fuse in the plug is because you've got trip switch's on your consumer unit, which are more sensitive than the fuse in the plug. Whether its worth repairing is another matter, as dryers a very cheap these days.

The plug socket will be on a ring main with alot of other things. It is possible that the dryer has pushed the trip swich over the limit. Try switching some other things off which are also on this trip switch and see if this helps.

If not then it is a problem with part of the air heating part of the dryer.

It's probably the heater element expired or the motor and it will trip the main box because if it's an RCB resettable circuit breaker it's more sensitive than the actual plug fuse.

The element has a short in it. The main box is going because it has rcd protection which detects the short, it does this before the fuse in the wall can blow. New element required, not too dear and not too hard to fit if you're reasonably competent.

It is possible that one of the elements has simply overheated as opposed to burning out completely. Some, but not all, tumble dryers have a small red button on the rear of the appliance. Push this firmly and it will reset the elements. Try this. Otherwise, clean out the filter, and ensure enough air gets to the appliance. Otherwise, time for a new dryer methinks.

Most likely one of the wires inside has come loose and touching the cabinet causing the earth leakage to trip.If there was a short across the mains it will definitely blow the fuses
