Hi Louisa! You may not like my answer because I think you expect and are looking for sympathy, but if you are honest with yourself you might. First of all, understand that teaching is not a form of entertainment. It is the imparting of knowledge, and as such, it doesn't presupose that it has to amuse students. Many students expect the teacher to be scintillating, amusing, witty...Some people can be and some can't. We all wish that our teachers were dynamic, enthusiastic and amusing. Sometimes, teachers teaching the same subject for a long time, become bored themselves. HOWEVER, you are there to acquire knowledge not to be entertained. Instead of calling a teacher/professor boring, ask yourself what do you expect to get out of this class. Perhaps, you could ask interesting questions and participate in discussions if at all possible. If not then just listen mindfully and think about what the message is. The message is always more important than the messenger - so don't kill the messenger. As in everything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. Hang in there, cookie, boredom never killed anyone,

Yes, even I had the same problem. I used to doze off sitting on the front bench and I used to lean to the point of falling off the seat. My teacher made me sit with two boys(I hated sitting with boys) on either side so that I can comfortably go to sleep without falling off! Our's was the only bench with three students sitting together. I approached her lot many times to shift my place somewhere else, but to no avail! I never slept in class from that day onwards!
Now that I am a teacher, I do the same(except that I make sleepy students sit with tigers on either side! My joke stinks!)
But I agree with j_mo83 and biker babe! Very well said!

Oh wah... take notes, get more sleep at night, drink some water, ask questions. Every so often there are teachers that know nothing more than to lecture to their class... while it is not entertaining, there is still information that you need to learn. Ask questions to break the monotny of a lecture, take active notes so you don't get lost. Drink water to keep you refreshed. Most of all... get some sleep at night so you have the energy to get through the school day.

1. Stick a coin of montery value onto the path outside the window or the window of somewhere where u find yourself sitting often ie. this class. When people try to pick it up, laugh. Then wait somemore.

Divided attention, takes some practice but you can pay attention with part of your brain will thinking about something else. I was able to do it to the point of almost being a sleep and still answer questions correctly on demand.

I usually just let my mind wander, coming back to earth every so often so if I'm asked a question I don't look like a total idiot. Then at night when I do my homework, I call a classmate or ask my Dad. Mind you, it has taken me all semester to get into the habit of daydreaming, and stopping at regulated intervals. But you're probably smarter than me.
