I have 4 hamsters, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 2 betta fish...But, i just LOVE animals and that is really all i care about. I have plenty of time, and money, so time and money wont be a problem(hence me saying plenty of time and money)...anyways. The reason my parents won't let me get one is because they think they have no personalities. Yeah, i know, thats a pretty dumb reason, no offence rents. So any ideas on how to get my snake(ball python)

educate your parents. snakes do have personalities. they're relatively easy to care for. if you haven't had a snake before, i'd suggest a cornsnake. they require minimal care, are usually calm, don't mind being handled, and they stay fairly small.
ball pythons are good snakes, but they can be finiky eaters, and tend to be really headshy. you have to pay more attention to their heat requirements than with cornsnakes. but they can be a good first snake, if you pay extra attention.
whatever you do, educate your parents, get them to handle one at a petshop, handle them yourself before you choose one.
then ask for a retic.
when they shudder in horror, suggest something more user friendly like a ball or corn.

jesse p...cornsnakes are awesome pets. but they do get over a foot long. all four of mine are over a foot, and two of those are under a year old, our four year old is five feet long.
here are a couple of links

I would ask a couple of questions. First, how old are you?
Second, how responsible are you? (Honestly now, I mean when it comes right down to it. Do you lie to your parents, even about little things? Do you mislead them? Do they trust you completely and without hesitation and if not why don't they?

My wife and I have always had pets when we could have them. (Sometimes places we rented wouldn't let us, like when we were in college - we married young.) I always had dogs and cats growing up, the occasional reptile, anoles, iguana, etc...

My son is 12 right now and has always had a love of animals. We got a male boxer a few years back and a female a few months later. I am a firm believe that you should do a ton of research on a species and know everything there is to know about them before you get them.

We also have a twelve foot boa c., an eight foot boa c., a five foot Honduran milk snake, an adult mali Uromastyx, a juvenile mali Uromastyx, a green iguana, an emperor scorpion, three adult leopard geckos, three juvenile albino leopard geckos, six large hermit crabs and 7 medium hermit crabs. I think that is all for now but we are always looking for more pets.

We had the two dogs and my son wanted a lizard. I bought him a book and told him I would quiz him on the Mali before he could get it. I asked him every question I could think of, and I had the book to look at so I knew if he was right or not when answering me. He didn't do well because he wasn't properly prepared. I gave him another week and the second time he knew the book inside and out. Plus I made him do research on the internet.

Every time he asked for another pet we go through the same routine, get the book, study, do a research on line, write a paper, take exam from me, get the items needed for the new creature, then get the creature.

His pets include the hermit crabs, emperor scorpion, green iguana, leopard geckos, And Honduran Milk Snake.

The boas are mine, the dogs belong to everyone.

We take the animals to functions for others to learn about them, school, scout functions, etc... Anyplace they want a live talk with live animals. I make him give the talks about his creatures and I give the talks about mine. He answers the questions people ask with confidence. People do ask some questions are quite obscure and he can answer them because his knowledge about the species is broad and exact.

I didn't mean to ramble on but I think if you educate yourself so that you know everything that is humanly known about a creature and you share this with your parents you will have a better chance.

To the person(s) that said you have enough pets, I say to each his own.

One last thing, I have had people in my house that are so afraid of snakes when they are in a car driving down that road and they see s snake they freak out and go around or turn and head another direction.

I make sure everyone that walks into my house is fully aware what we have and where they are located in the house, no surprises. I actually have people warm up to the snakes I have and several have broken their fears of different animals in my house, because we aren't pushy.

I keep everything locked up (not the dogs) I have padlocks on all enclosures and I have very large enclosures, the snake enclosures are 6 foot by 6 foot 3 feet deep. The iguana enclosure is the same size but 5 feet deep. The Mali enclosures are 4 feet long and 3 feet deep but only a foot high (they do not climb). I make sure each animal has adequate housing and we have had no deaths, other than the prekilled rats and mice (snakes) and lots of dead crickets (leos and scorpion), Oh, and once a week pinky mice for the leos.

*** If your parents still tell you no, you will just have to wait, I always wanted snakes growing up and my parents said no. Well I am grown up and I have snakes. My son wants a miniature dachshund but I refuse, I do not care for small dogs and our boxers would be too rough when they play. So you can't _always_ get what you want.

my heart is broken and i just give up...im not byeing another snake its just to heartbrakeing.....but you might be better at snake care than i was =[ well it took me 3 years to FORCE my dad to let me bye a redtail boa, well she lived a month then died cuz of some kind of strang prob, because the seller did not take proper procautions(srry i have NO clue how to spell lol) then i got another redtail......she was the sweetest but she died of unknown resons......and then i have a ball python which is a really good choice they are really sweet
ok now on to your question lol
ok well first off THEY DOOO HAVE PERSONALITIES!! omg i love them to.....you should take you parents to a petstore and let them look at them......you can lie alil, and say well they dont move around much (they do if they are healthy =])
they dont grow fast(by two years they are HUGE)
thats what i did =]
tell them you will bye it (and you will)

When you live with your parent’s thier decisions is the bottom line.
You may have to leave your reptile friends to be until you have your own place.

BTW if you get python you may come up 4 hamsters short

I just recently had this discussion with my parents.
Try getting as much information on them as possible. Where you can get one, how much, what to look for when purchasing one, feeding, cleaning, temperatures, etc, etc.
Maybe if you know someone that owns one you could let them "visit" with the snake.
I've only had mine for a couple of days and I can already see a lot of personality.Good luck!

no fur when they shed, only eat once every 1-2 weeks, and they give the biggest hugs, but if you have a cat you will get bit, actually if you have a snake you will get bit, but tell them its just a kiss

Snakes make great pets. I think you should try to convince them to let you get something smaller. Like a cornsnake. i have a cornsnake and they are awsome. They might not like it because they think it'll get to big. Cornsnakes only get to be about a foot long. Good luck!

i would be unable to tell you precisely how, yet do in basic terms no longer back down. it may be much less annoying to cajole them to permit you get only one area pierced first. till you're hell-bent on getting the two carried out, this is. i wanted my lip pierced from approximately age 14, and my mom ultimately permit me get it carried out while i grew to become into 17...it took a jointly as, yet she ultimately gave in! in basic terms talk with them approximately it and enable them to understand that is something which you relatively need, and which you're in charge adequate to preserve it and verify it does not get contaminated.

Don't even try! Snakes don't make good pets. They are not affectionate, they scare people, and you can't teach them anything. Anyway, you already have more pets than anyone ought to have!
