I think I have to use the "if" formula but Im not too sure. I have to multiply rate times hour and and multiply the overtime by 1.5 but dont know how the formula is. Could any help me with this please.

No you shouldn't need to use if at all - if you post an example (all words is very confusing) then I will be able to post the formula. It should need to use a multiplication formula, but then I can not be sure from your description.

Are you in MS Excel?

Here is an example where the employee has an hourly pay:

Say Column A is the hourly rate, Column B is the hours actually worked.

Then Column C is (A*40) + (B - 40)*(A*1.5)

If that isn't helpful, can you add some details as to what program you are using, etc.
