Grasses suitable for shade use are also dependent on the area they will grow in. As warm season grasses move further Northward their shade tolerance is reduced.

You can plant whatever kind you want there, but it's probably going to die. Just plant some ivy or something. I used to have pachysandra under a tree and they went crazy.

they do have grass seeds just for that reason, all you have to do is look at the bags and it will tell you. good luck.
