All I said then, was " Surely, you aren't serious ", and then she kicked me out of bed. Why? I have never seen Doris this mad before.

Haven't you learned? There are certain comments that you never want to make to a women that you are married to -and that's one of them. I doubt that she would really divorce you, but you might wish you were if you did. A slip up like that could mean to her that you are cheating on her -and she would have just cause to believe that too.XeA

My friend, every woman wants to believe they are the "only one." It does not matter how many past partners you have had..they need to believe they are your only Beloved..for ever and ever, and that only they excite you. Start screaming Doris over and over in bed...it will get to be habit. What might happen if you leave Doris and go with someone else? Hmm that might be interesting, especially if your next girlfriend is like Doris.

During the first year that I was dating the man who is now my husband, I "accidentally" said someone else's name during a make-out session. I did not scream it out, I just said it in a normal tone of voice, a classic Freudian slip. No, I was not thinking about that other person in a sexual way. Yes, my (now) hubby was pissed. No, he did not break up with me.

Let's put this mathematically. In your wife's world:

Saying another woman's name in bed = you are thinking about another woman in a sexual way = you do not love her, she is not first in your mind, you want to have sex with that other woman, etc. Of course, this is an assumption, since you haven't really ASKED her, which you should do, by the way.

If this equation is NOT true in your mind, then you need to tell her so. What you did, basically, was to belittle her feelings by making a joke of it. You tried to test the limits like any two year old would, and passive-aggressively tried to piss her off by telling her that you wouldn't accept her telling you what to do... maybe this wasn't what you were consciously trying to say, but my guess is that is was what she heard. No wonder she kicked you out of bed, which, by the way, she has the right to do as your wife. Yes, you have the choice to escalate the situation in a number of ways... or you have the choice to act like a mature adult, with sympathy for your wife's feelings.

Why don't you just talk with her and ask her how she really feels about the situation. "Surely," there are things about which you are extremely sensitive (money? inlaws? your job? penis size?) that she, as a loving wife, takes care to protect. This doesn't mean you shouldn't offer your point of view, just make sure you do it in a loving, and not jokingly-mean way.

If you call your wife another womans name that is the same as admitting that you had an affair!!!!! Do you understand now!! It means that you are not thinking of her you are thinking of another woman when you are with her and its humiliating. It makes a woman think that you don't love her. Tell her you are sorry and you didn't understand and what would you do if your Doris called you Dick or Harrold or John? what would you think. Take care Heather

Aw geez!
Ok, the first thing you've got to do is get back in that bed - isn't it your bed? Isn't it your house? Aren't you the man? If she wants to be alone, let HER go to the couch. (I know you share the house, but just see my point).
Second, you got to tell her, "When you tell someone they can't do something, what's the first thing they want to do? Even just to piss the person off who had the audacity to say such a thing."
Then you've got to do some reassuring. But you've got to get this woman trained - I do it right up front, and if I can't train them I don't bother, because I'm never going to be put out of my own bed, and if it's her house, I leave the entire house.
You gotta take charge.
Now, you could do a reversal - tell her how much it hurt you to hear something like that from her. And (if you think you can pull it off), tell her if she ever tries to put you out of your own bed that YOU'LL divorce her. Now you haven't done any training yet, so that is very risky, but if you can pull it off you definitely should. You've got to be confident and you've got to be the man - if you show any weakness she'll walk all over you your whole life. You got to stand up, and if you fail, she'll know that all she has to do is persevere until you fold - then it'll be ten times harder.
Good luck.
And write me if you need anything more.

Well, typically women dont joke around when it comes to being called another woman's name.
If a female called you by another man's name, i surely don't think you'd appreciate it.

Women like men who are faithful to them and love them enough to remember their name!
