1st of all I wouldn't steal. 2nd of all, I do not think stealing deserves such an easy-out. You should not get to pick your own punishment for stealing. But...wutever. My punishment of choice, however, would be just to simply pay back for what I had stolen, and..ummm...yea

Somebody who steals is unlikely to be able to devise a suitable punishment for their own crime are they? I would not steal so I dont think I need to consider a punishment for myself - do I?

If I had to choose my own punishment, I'd sentence myself to a nice Chinese meal, with a couple of bottles of wine.
That would help me rehabilitate myself.
Other thieves would, of course, be jailed.

I'd be punished by having to sweep up a million pounds in five pound notes and then carry it home.
