I just read a review on a book that I want to purchase, it is called Con Ed it is by Matthew Klein, Warner Books.
It is about a "retired" 54 year old con artist who, after a lengthy prison term, got a real job at a dry cleaners for $10 an hour plus tips (the article commented on who leaves tips at a drycleaner?) He used to be the worlds greatest con man and now decides to walk the straight and narrow line, UNTIL... he is approached for the ultimate con, he at first refuses and then finds out his adult son owes money to the russian mob who breaks his leg as a warning, so Kip, (the con man) decides that since he wasn't the best father, this LAST con could maybe make up for his parenting by a high stakes con.....
at the end of the review it say's " you won't find out who is scamming whom until the very last page"
Sounds like a great book to me, reminds me of the movie Matchstick Men.

. My favorite book next to the Bible is "The Christian Manifesto" by Francis Shaffer. It is a deep thinking book on theology and it is a good book. I however do not think you would enjoy it.
I would recommend a book called Square Foot Gardening as it is an exceptionally interesting book but again if you aren't interested it is still a good book.
I would recommend you look up a web site called the Gutenberg Press or project, something similar to that name as they have tons of free books in PDF format.

I just finished Saints at the River by Ron Rash (3rd reread). It's very moving, and impossible not to get caught up in it.

Before that I read some classic SF by Robert Heinlen, The Rolling Stones and Starbeast. Both very entertaining.

The Harry Potter books really are wonderful and very exciting. Also try the Secret History by Donna Tartt if you want a classy, literary thriller.

Try the Bronte sisters. I love their writing so much. I actually haven't read anything by Anne yet but I'm asking for "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" for my birthday. Charlotte wrote "Jane Eyre" and Emily wrote "Wuthering Heights."
You really can't go wrong with the Bronte sisters.
Thomas Hardy is really good as well.
There are so many books you should read!!!

"Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell"
"To Say Nothing of The Dog"
The first one is a huge (900 pages) but wonderfully written story that takes a while to get going but has a marvelous ending, and the latter is one of the funniest things I've ever read.
