I am personally a BIG Harry Potter fan. I haven't seen the Eragon movies, or read the book. I hear it's good, a mixture of Lord of the Rings and some other books and some say it's better than the Potter series which I don't find possible. What do you think?

If you enjoy Harry Potter, I'm not sure if you will enjoy Eragon.

Eragon is a Tolkien-esque fantasy, meaning swords and knights and all that stuff. In many people's opinions, Eragon is an immature combination of many fandoms, including the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Dragonriders of Pern. For example:

Elessar (King of Gondor in LOTR)=Elessari
Luke wants revenge after the Empire destroys his home and family= Eragon wants revenge after the Empire destroys his home and family.

Personally, I enjoyed the book the first time, but then as I read it again, I realized it wasn't as good as everyone said. A disappointment, but it may be worth reading.

I would have to say Harry Potter!!! I've read Eragon and Eldest, but I like HP better. I dunno why......Maybee cause we've had 6 books(so far) to get close to the characters in HP, and only 2 books (so far)for Eragon. Also like you said, Eragon is a mixture of LOTR , Starwars, and a bunch of other stuff, and I find it to close to those.

* Cant wait for HP7!!!!!!*

(d'you know you typed "Harry Potter of Eragon" instead of "Harry Potter or Eragon"? I didn't even notice it the first time I looked at your question, lol.)

i individually like the two sequence. whether, i might % Harry Potter. It has the countless funniest communicate I genuinely have ever seen in any e book, and the superb characters. Dobby, Hermione, Luna, Hagrid... i admire the sensation of friendship the e book evokes and that i in basic terms love the story line, the twists and turns, and the relevation on the tip of each and every thing! that is definately the superb. Eragon, I enjoyed yet i could tell an ameteaur wrote the 1st and 2nd. nevertheless, the books have been sturdy. The 0.33 e book, whether confirmed me how lots Paolini has grown up. That grew to become into by technique of a great way the superb e book in the sequence. it particularly is a competent study. yet has no longer something on HP!

Eragon was a drag to read. The characters were underdeveloped, like I wasn't able to understand their feelings or anything. They seemed like cardboard people to me. Don't get me started on the plot....ugh.

Though with Harry and the others, they were sympathetic characters to me. Though the plot does follow several common plot devices, but twisted around which make the whole story interesting and seemingly original.

It is a completely different coming of age story. And just like Potter being a mix of Little lord Flautery and David Copperfield, the whole tone is difficult to describe to one who hasn't even attempted to read it.

Eragon is an awesome book. You should read it. But don't see the movie. They tend to butcher the books by making them movies.
